SWBACK3.map

 "A great WangBang level, 4 ULTRA secured bases with
 lots of defense and attack possibilities, best played
 with 4-8 players. Flying carpets, secret messages,
 turrets and LOTS of traps: You'll all find it
 in this map. This map was originally planned for
 an April 2000 release (Whooooops), however at that
 point we decided it wasnt good enough for release yet,
 we did some more work, till this month, I (T.M.M) did
 all the  final work, and implemted an 'All New'
  "Nuke the base" mode. Crazy stuff!"

Cultures.map

"Cultures.map returns, about 2 years after
its original release back in '99. It was
my first map for SW. I finally saw the time
to conclude this map by adding some nice
extra features. It is now possible to play
COOP and WangBang games at this map!
I also changed tiles, some sprites, added/
deleted some sectors which makes it a far
 better map overall. Have fun!"

SantaWang v1.3 Mini-TC

         "We need your help again Lo Wang. A group of jewelry thieves has robbed the Xmas store. They have placed several bombs inside the building and set them off if we go after them. Your mission is to deactivate all bombs and leave the area.  For security reasons we have sealed off the area. We will only open the security gates when you've successfully located and deactivated each bomb'
        Such bastards! Anyway, there's a lot of  fun to be had in these maps; try and locate all 10 Santa Wang posters or play a game of darts. All maps are WangBang compatible as well! The Swangta.map is for the action fanatics; 10 highly trained terrorists took over the area; track them down and kill them! After killing them, will you find out who was behind all this?
         Also new is a dark mission (Santawnm.map) locate the mines and get rid of them. Use  the night vision goggles; they will help. If you really are the hero type, try the Swangrd map. A lot of spooky things are happening and it really is pitch dark this time. Nothing is what it seems..  new hazards make for a dangerous mission.."

1.Wheel of Fortune.
====================


Both players enter the main lobby (!NO! peeking beforehand in single player mode, cheaters)
and decide which category to play. When playing the first game, the first player in the room will start
the start game by turning a switch below the chosen character.

!!But not before the second player arrived and entered the non-playing area behind the desk!!
When this character is IN the word that is looked for, the second player will receive damage and die.
When this happens, the first player should WAIT for the second play to arrive in the room again and
had entered the non-playing area
behind the desk.

Next, another switch may be turned. The player who is playing can continue picking
character UNTILL a wrong character is chosen and the played receives damage or dies. In this case
the second may turn forward and start picking characters. (Again, NOT untill the other player
arrived back in the room and entered the non playing area behind the desk).

The winner of the game (BY completing the WORD first, not by typing it in!) can decide
which player can start the next round.

When all 4 words (In this version v1.1) have been solved, players look at the counters and
exit the level. The player with the highest point total (in this case as close to 0
as possible) wins the game.

2.BombSweeper.
===============


Yes indeed, this is basicly the same game as Windows Minesweeper. But it has a few
interesting extras..

Both players enter the SAME game and decide who takes a move first. Making a move is done
by simply walking over the squares. !Make sure you only hit ONE square at once! When a number
(1,2,3 or 4) shows, this means the square is surrounded by that many bombs. Each square CAN
be surrounded by maximum 8 bombs, but will only be surrounded by 4 bombs max. (Makes sense eh?)

After receiving a 1,2,3 or 4 the player may NOT make another move and must wait for the other
player to make a move first. However, when a BOMB sign is shown, the player can continue and
pick another square to unseal. The player who is NOT picking a square must ALWAYS stand
on the leveled bomb platform in front of the room.

When a bomb sign is unsealed by the other player the non playing person will receive damage and die.
Before unsealing another square the player at turn must WAIT for the second player to return to the
room and stands on the bomb platform.

The room is finished when all squares (36) are unsealed. A new room can then be approached.
The player who unseals the FINAL square will start the next round.

Powerup
-------


This game has one added powerup: Kevlar Armour.
Certain playing stages contain this item. By unsealing the right square, players
receive a Kevlar armour vest which will protect the player for ONE bomb. When the lucky
player unsealed this powerup a smiley face will show. The player can then continue to unseal
other squares, untill a non-bomb tile is unsealed.

When all patterns are played (4) ,then game can be ended. The player with the highest
point total (in this case as close to 0  as possible) wins the game.

3.Course Race.
===============


Something done before in another way (Check the 'Racemts' map if you can find it, I like it)
The idea is simple: race your opponent and try to finish the course as fast as possible.
In this version you can play two courses:

-Short Course
This course not really short, but it's the shortest one available so good for a quick
blast throught. However, it has certain hazards like pits, turrets and in team play
players 3-8 can help the 2-4 racers by teleporting to various section of the track and
obstruct and attack enemy players.

Players 1,3,5&7 (I advise a max of 2 players RACING, the rest attacking the other team)
enter the left side of the track while the other (players 2,4,6 &8) enter the right side of the track.
Racers&Attackers may NOT switch from side during the race. Racers also may NOT attack each other
(which will be hard anyway). The game is to track down the key (RED for players 1,3,5& 7 and BLUE
for players 2,4,6& 8) bring it back to the start of the track and use it on the key door.
Enter the pad behind the door and the game is over for both teams. After playing the tracks players
can check the point total. The player (or TEAM) with the highest point total (in this case as close to 0 or
above 0 as possible) wins the game.

-Harikiri course.
Says it all really. Harikiri (which means suicide, but I bet you already knew that) course has lots
of dangerous wall traps, lava pits, fireball traps and other hazards which will lead to a certain death
most of the time.

As new 3d shoot em up games are coming thick and fast, is there any 
place left for old shoot em ups like Shadow Warrior? 
What can be expected for the coming year? New maps? New TC's?
I.Mecking (Carger2000) and Robman are going find an answer to that... 
To give you all a clear picture of this we talked to some 
Mappers/WangBang players/SW Webmasters/:

A: At least 3 new maps in all styles (WangBang/1p etc).
     Maybe more, who knows.

Q: Is (in your opinion) Shadow Warrior dead?

A: No, you can still expect some cool stuff from me and 
     other mappers (like T.M.M off course) 

Q: What is the best user map you've seen for SW?

A: Got to be Mission-X part III (which I already saw, hehe)
     for WangBang games "Durfort" rules supreme.

Q: Final question, thoughts on Shadow Warrior 2?

A: I definitely hope it will see the light some day!

A:Yenji: I've been reconsidering finishing my maps or starting new ones
but I'm kinda on the edge about it. Ever since TEN went down I 
haven't had much map inspiration. Right now I'm not making anything for 
sw, i've been playing games like quake2 and counterstrike.

Q: Is (in your opinion) Shadow Warrior dead?

A:Yenji: Too the public i'd say it is since most people play games like 
ut and q3 now. But too those who played the game before or own the game
i think its not quite dead yet. Even I have played single player ever 
once in a while and have been craving a good multiplayer match, but too
bad for me that ic works very crappy on my comp despite having a cable,
so I don't get any multiplayer action anymore :(

Q: What is the best user map you've seen for SW?

A:Yenji: Hmmm thats a good one. I think the best one I seen for effects 
was one I think was called valley.map. I'm not sure if thats the name 
but I think it is, it never had too many effects, but it had some off 
the wall stuff, like being able to climb up a waterfall. For playing 
i'm not quite sure, I never ever got to play too many user maps over 
the net, but as for actual retail maps i'd have to say zilla 
construction. I have sssooo many death match memories from that level
>:)

Q: Final question, Thoughts on Shadow Warrior 2?

A:Yenji: A sw2 using a engine that allowed tcp/ip would be like a dream 
come true. Nothing ever made me laugh as hard or get into the game as 
much as sw did. I'd love too see a sw2, mabye one day 3dr will 
reconsider their position on this :)

A: Yes , I will be making maps long into the future , but they will 
most likely be Wangbang maps unless I feel REALLY Ambitious.

A: I believe shadow warrior is dead , but for the choice few who 
still make maps and play the occational game , we are the true lovers of 
the game and with us it will never be truely dead . Corny comment 
I know but it's true .

Q: What is the best user map you've seen for SW?

A: For attention to detail and great texture use , any of Carger2000's maps
but the best map Ive seen ?
Ummmm for wangbang : DBE ( simple yet well done ) and for single player 
probably  PARK . 

Q: Final question, thoughts on Shadow Warrior 2?

A:  If a shadow warrior 2 came out possibly with a modified Unreal 
Engine and brought sw back and everyone played it , I'd be speechless.

but I am making a sky palace for half life.

Q: Final question, thoughts on Shadow Warrior 2?

A:TDO: Dont make one.
Shadow warrior was good because of the engine, not the characters or 
plot. 3d realms should focus on duke nukem forever and just not make
SW2 at all.

Like; 2000 has been a quiet year for SW with not much maps or TC's released.
However, a SW newsletter was set-up, a totally new and great SW website was
launched and the the TC's and maps that actually DID came out this year
were of a high standard. Can you expect a beatiful future with lots of
maps and TC's, 8 player WangBang games and stuff? No, but as the coming year 
will probably be some of Shadow Warrior's last,
