I thought I'd share it here. Kristofer calls it The Shadow Warrior Shareware Rap. Enjoy! :) I like big weapons; make it easy to kill. When everybody dead, I happy as hell. Of all this endless killing, one must tire, But I yell, "Burn, baby, burn!" when the flames-a-geet-a-higher! There's lots of flora, fauna, secret passages, and how! Let me check here, oh damn, I'm running into walls now! And then there are the lapins with there unusual habits. They explode for no reason, then have sex-- horny rabbits. Anyway, I'll come getcha, and when I do I'll say you look like a stupid and shtink like dead baboon! I frag you again! Did I break your concentration? Apparently you're in the midst of serious masturbation. Quit jerking off, come fight me; you think you're so slick, But I'll just say you not fight well with hands-- try dick! I say I'm Lo Wang, then your brain go splat And everybody dead-- I like that. LoWang Rap - Grammy Awards - November 26, 1997 Can a song from a video game possibly win a Grammy Award? Lee Jackson from 3D Realms is giving it one hell of a shot. This from his latest .plan: NARAS (the Grammy organization) apparently received and did not trash the copies of Shadow Warrior I submitted for nomination voting. I just received the Nominations Entry List for this year's voting (all 150 pages of it), and Shadow Warrior / Lo Wang's Rap are all over the place. It's entered in Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Album, Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, Best Instrumental Composition (Attention, Leep's Prophecy), and Producer of the Year. Heh. Keep in mind that there are two stages to the voting. The first stage weeds out everything and comes up with the stuff that is actually nominated (i.e., that gets read on the TV awards show). The second stage covers only those works that won nominations. In other words, I have a snowball's chance in hell of getting a nomination. Be real - I'm up against the likes of Puff Daddy, Janet Jackson, Will Smith, etc., in most of the categories. However, this little exercise is more of an attempt to prove the point that the Grammy's need categories for Multimedia and Game music. If you're a game music author and you're reading this, visit http://grammy.com, join up, and help me convince the powers that be of this fact. OGT brings their technology to the Net - November 25, 1997PHOENIX–November 25, 1997– Online Gaming Technologies (OGT) today announced the release of their Internet Commit driver known as iC. iC allows fans of Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Blood and Redneck Rampage to engage in deathmatches over any TCP/IP connection. iC is a technology demo designed by OGT to test how the technology they developed for Bulletin Board Systems running Galaticomm's Worldgroup BBS works over the internet. "Online gaming is definitely well seated on the Internet", said Joseph Wilcox, OGT President. "In order to remain competitive in this market, we needed to begin moving in this direction. iC is a way to find out if we have what it takes." iC is available as freeware from the OGT web site at http://www.ogt.net. Developed by Mark Goodman (author of MILK, a generic IPX tunnel designed for the Worldgroup BBS) and supports two to eight players over any TCP/IP network or Win95 dial-up Internet connection. Online Gaming Technologies is a small company that has been developing gaming solutions for BBS systems for over 3 years. Based in Phoenix Arizona, OGT was the first company to bring Win95 gaming to the Worldgroup BBS platform and has developed optimized support for over 60 commercial games. Shadow Warrior 3Dfx patch news - November 24, 1997 The following is an official statement from 3Dfx regarding the lack of Voodoo Rush support in the 3Dfx patch for Shadow Warrior. From Brian P. Bruning "The conversion of the Build engine (used in Shadow Warrior, Blood, etc.) was originally started and prototyped on Voodoo Graphics. Due to the engine's span-based architecture as opposed to Voodoo's triangle based rasterizing, there were many obstacles to overcome. Over the course of months we were able to get Voodoo's performance better by taking some shortcuts and focusing entirely on that piece of hardware. Once completed, we realized that the shortcuts we took would not lend themselves well to performance on Voodoo Rush (frame buffer memory is laid out differently for example.) Although considerable time was spent exploring VRush support, nothing short of redesigning the entire engine would fix this. We came to the unfortunate conclusion that VRush support could not be included in this product. 3Dfx Interactive remains committed to supporting its game developers and consumers for both Voodoo Graphics and Voodoo Rush. Although the differences between Voodoo Graphics and VRush hardware are minimal and don't affect many games, a couple have turned up. Unfortunately, the Build engine is one of them. As always 3Dfx will continue to work on getting the best and most number of titles optimized for Voodoo owners." Brian P. Bruning 3Dfx Interactive Developer Relations Manager For more information on the Shadow Warrior 3Dfx Patch, please see the news item on it below. " Joe Siegler releases Shadow Warrior RTS files - October 2, 1997 Joe updated his .plan announcing that he made a couple cool RTS files for Shadow Warrior. I just made two RTS files for Shadow Warrior. They're made up out of sounds from the game. Here's the readme that I whipped up for it. I was playing some WangBang today, and it occurred to me that one of my fav RTS files for Duke Nukem 3D was one where the user took some game sounds and made an RTS out of it. It was cool, because you could "fake out" people with the sounds if you applied them yourself, as opposed to when the game would. For example, if you could play the sound of the elevator in Hollywood Holocaust of Duke3D, then your opponent would know where you were, or more to the point, they'd think they knew where you were. Same would go for the car alarm in the first level of Shadow Warrior. Anyway, with that in mind, I created these two RTS files. The first one is primarily Lo Wang speak, things like "I am the Shadow Warrior", which the game normally says when you turn invisible, "Two Wangs are better than one", and "Time to get Erased". The second is more sound effects, a door opening and closing, and the Nuclear Weapon loading sound. :) All of these were in the sw.grp file except for one. I stuck one in there where Lo Wang goes "Swim, Swim, Hungry.. Stupid Fish", which is of course a reference to the legendary Dopefish. Has nothing to do with the game, but I stuck it in there to amuse myself. :) Anyway, here they are. Hope you like them. If anyone comes up with a better one, let me know! Here's where to get it if you want it: ftp://wuarchive.wustl.edu/systems/msdos/games/3dr/misc/wangrts.exe |
