Alright, I got bored and decided to write a strategy guide for anyone who still plays this game. I myself haven't played regularly in over a year but I still remember what I did to own you fools. Since riotlord already did a piece on controllers and weapons I won't touch on them, but will touch on more finer details of the game. LEVEL CONTROL: Level control can be acheived several ways, some techniques being stronger than others. Your technique might depend mostly on what your skill level is at. RESPAWN TIMES: The strongest technique in controlling a level is to remember the item respawn times, I haven't played in a while, but I believe it takes 30 seconds for a item to respawn after it has been taken. Taking this into account you can run all across the level for other items or to seek out your enemy and than return right when the item spawns back. This leaves your opponent almost no chance of retrieving that item, if the timing is pulled off correctly. For example, at my peak in playing this game I was able to have complete control of the 100 armor and cookies inside the temple AS WELL as the cookie and grenade pack in the water pool outside of the temple, leaving very few opportunities for my enemy to pick those items up. This mean't I could safely go out and retrieve any item in the map without worrying of the enemy grabbing the powerups because i knew exactly when it would come back. This would often leave opponents with nothing but perhaps a grenade launcher, medpack, and no armor most of the game. It is also wise to pay attention to the noise a person makes when they spawn back into the game after dying, by doing so you will know where their helpless ass is immediatly, and also gives you the opportunity for a easy kill. This does not mean run away off to the powerup just because it respawned, you will also have to take into account IF you can reach that powerup before your opponent can if your opponent respawns anywhere near that powerup. You also have to take into account your opponents health level and determine if it is worth leaving a low healthed opponent or going after the powerup. Ultimatly, it will be up to you to decide what you should do in what situation depending on the situation. SOUNDS: Many people take this for granted, but sounds play a powerful role in controlling a level and simply out fighting your opponent. By learning what sound comes from what part of the map you can realize your opponents position immediatly without having to see them. By paying close attention to the sounds in the game, you can also avoid being surprised when a opponent is attacking. Such subtle noise such as water splashing by foot or a jump nearby are overlooked a surprisingly number of times and should be taken a note of by players who want to enter into realm of the godly players. Sounds should be taken with a grain of salt however, because a good player will often fake a sound in order to throw a person off. Opening doors without entering them, or entering water without surfacing in the other side are common tricks deployed, I leave it up to you to find your own way of tricking the other player, and it is also up to you to figure out when a sound has been faked. A tip to help you out is to think of where the player is going and what the player needs ... eg: is the player low on health? if so he would probably go through the door to the health rather than fake it. FLEEING TECHNIQUES: For you players who lack skill, you might find yourself in this position a little more than to your liking. Running can also rake you alot of kills to if you know what you are doing, and can also keep a opponent from following you at all, leaving you a chance to grab powerups without harrasment. I will state the obvious way of escaping which is to leave a trail of grenades, rockets, or stickies behind you while you run. But one annoying and very successful technique of running would be to open a door and walk through, but once you walk through immediatly do a 180 turn and close the door. If done correctly you will have entered a door and closed it behind you within milliseconds. This has the advantage of slowing your opponent down and closing the door of opportunity to shoot you, so to speak. AIMING: This section will for the most part deal with people using mouse controls, so you joystickers and kber's might find this useless for you. But for people who want to unleash the full potential of the mouse will first have to turn off centered aim and leave on free look so you can most quickly deal with opponents that are above or under your view. But a more appealing reason for turning off centered aim is so you can "ground aim" with the rocket launcher and grenade launcher. By this I mean shooting next to a persons feet with the launcher and NOT shooting directly at them. This way you do not have to be as accurate with to rocket launcher to inflict damage and this also has a way of bouncing opponents around(sometimes into a wall where they shoot themselves to death). This also applies to grenade launchers because by aiming lower you will cause the grenades to explode quicker(they explode after bouncing twice off the floor). This is not easy to master, and may take a week or two before you actually get good at it, but the reward is very well worth it. HELP! I AM STUCK WITH ONLY STICKY BOMBS! In the unfortunate situation where you are stuck with only sticky bombs as a weapon, don't fret. These bombs can be quite useful if you know how to use them. On certain parts of a level(doors, lava, etc) you can throw sticky bombs and have them explode instantanously. If you see your opponent next to one of these during a battle where you are stuck only with stickies, just lob your sticks on those objects and see them go into pieces.
